Stephen Simmonds WoodworkStephen Simmonds is a local craftsman who runs his business with his wife Helen and two children, from the idyllic surroundings of Luckworthy Farm. Stephen also farms sheep which enjoy their life on the pastures that border Molland Moor on Exmoor. Stephen is passionate about trees and wood and his pieces of furniture and doors are signified by the wonderful grain and character of English hardwoods. His inspiration comes from the wonderful colours and patterns of swirling grains, knots and burrs found particularly in English timbers. The design of Stephen’s work tends to be traditional and simple, to allow the sheer beauty and character of the wood to flourish and be displayed without fussiness or complications. Functionality is important, with great thought given to the design of each piece with regard to it’s intended use and setting. Careful attention to detail and exceptional standards of workmanship are standard.
